Behind the Scenes: How This Website Was Built
Building this site has been a hands-on learning experience, taking it from a local test environment on a home computer to a fully published blog. Here is a look at the core software, tools, and WordPress plugins that make everything run smoothly behind the scenes:

Self-Hosting from a Local PC: Unlike traditional blogs hosted on third-party cloud servers, this website is served live directly from a home PC. This self-hosted setup is made possible by combining several core technologies:
Dynamic DNS (DDNS) & Port Forwarding: Router configuration routes incoming web requests directly to the local server machine, while Dynamic DNS automatically syncs changing home IP addresses so the domain always points to the live server.
Reverse Proxying & SSL: Secure traffic routing isolates the host machine while serving HTTPS requests safely to incoming visitors.
24/7 Server Hardware Maintenance: Managing an on-premise home server requires balancing hardware power management, cooling, operating system uptime, and local automated backups to ensure continuous access.
Domain Registration & DNS with Cloudflare: The domain name was registered through Cloudflare Registrar. Beyond managing domain ownership, Cloudflare acts as a global network shield—offering built-in Web Analytics (tracking traffic trends privately), free SSL/TLS encryption, WHOIS privacy, ultra-fast DNS resolution, edge caching to reduce load on the home PC, and automatic DDoS & bot protection.
Local Web Server Environment with XAMPP: The foundation of the local hosting stack runs on XAMPP, providing the Apache web server and MySQL database required to serve pages dynamically to visitors.
Content Management with WordPress: The core of the blog runs on open-source WordPress, which handles all post organization, page management, media library storage, and administrative workflows.
Page Layouts with Kubio Page Builder: To customize the theme visually, I used the Kubio builder. It provides a flexible drag-and-drop editor for designing site headers, footers, standard page layouts, and post templates.
Search Engine Optimization with Yoast SEO: To help search engines discover and index the blog, Yoast SEO manages focus keyphrases, meta titles, image alt text descriptions, and XML sitemaps.
Interactive Media with AudioIgniter: For embedding custom audio players directly into blog posts, the AudioIgniter plugin keeps tracks lightweight and fast-loading.
Visual Galleries with Responsive Lightbox & Gallery: This plugin presents image collections in clean lightbox overlays, allowing readers to view expanded photos without navigating away from the article.
Visitor Messages with Contact Form 7: Contact Form 7 handles the contact page, routing reader messages safely without exposing personal email addresses to web crawlers.
AI Assistance with Google Gemini: From troubleshooting server configurations and CSS layout bugs to structuring post content, Google Gemini served as a technical guide throughout the entire build.
