Cobblestones and Canals: Our 2019 Weekend Escape to Bruges

Back in May 2019, my wife and I packed our bags for a classic weekend getaway to Bruges, traveling by coach and crossing the Channel with P&O Ferries. There is something uniquely relaxing about settling into the coach, watching the ferry slip away from the coast, and easing into the journey before stepping into one of Europe’s most picture-perfect cities.

It was a crisp, cool weekend, the kind of weather that makes walking down centuries-old cobbled streets and taking in the historic architecture even better. We spent our time wandering alongside quiet canals, taking in the sights, and staying warm with plenty of local treats—from proper Belgian waffles to a good local beer in cozy tucked-away pubs.

I’ve put together a gallery of our favorite moments below, capturing the historic charm of the city, the journey across, and a few snap memories along the way.
